Nestling in Sherborne Lane in the corner of  Abchurch Yard between Cannon Street and King William Street.  The Vintry is a new addition to the City, it has only been open since August  2006.  The Vintry has modern decor and pleasantly arranged seating for a lunchtime meal or evening drink.  As plenty of venues do these days the lunchtime clientele are almostly seated
and eating.  When I visited (Friday) I was the only person at the bar (come to think of it, I was the only person on his/her own, "billy no mates" as my son would say), I asked if it would be a problem just having a drinking and was assured it was fine (London Pride £3.25, well it is a Fullers). The kitchen is on view to one end so you can see exactly was is going on. I must admit the menu offers some good looking choices, for example "For two to share" (if only I had someone to go with) "half lobster, marinated tuna lion, steamed mussels, Fine de Clarie and Irish rock oysters, potted shrimps, garlic king prawns with chips and bread" for £37.50. 

The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff friendly, perhaps next time I will have something to eat.
