With an unusual ground level entrance in the shadow of The Gherkin, this underground venue offers much, but sadly, delivers very little. The actual pub is pretty small, which would be okay, but the decor is not to my taste with it's 'trendy hint of colour'.  I did however enjoy the ‘car crash’ table tops, although it tended to bring back memories of having my car stereo stolen, so perhaps it's not such a good idea. The service was swift and pleasant although it was early in the week. I didn't try the menu.

Having somewhat 'slagged' off The Underwriter, I would like to add that on my infrequent visits both the clientele and the staff have been exceptionally nice, it's one of  those places that, because it wouldn't attract the poser types, is visited with clientele with, how should I say it, a little more substance perhaps.  Don't miss out, give The Underwriter a go.
