The Red Lion probably has the worst outlooks of any pub in the City, but don't be put off, the lack of passing trade makes this an interesting City venue. Bing a Nicholson's Cask Marque accredited the ale should be of a good standard, I had a London Pride on Monday at 1pm, probably the first of the ten guests downstairs to do so and it was still a reasonable pint.  But be warned, on a previous visit no ales available and on another, the pub was closed due to a 'toilet flood'! But as I say, don't me put off, many visits have been a good deal of fun and good drinking, especially Thursday nights with the Karaoke.

Finding The Red Lion can be a challenge, but there are three routes, follow the board you see on Gracechurch Street , turn at Lombard Court  on Clement's Lane or turn into Plough Court from Lombard Street.  Whichever route you take, you will find The Red Lion on the ground and low ground
level of a 'now aging' city block with almost no chance of a sunshine even on the sunniest of days.

Being a Nicholson's the traditional pub style is evident throughout, plenty of dark wood floors and panelling and lovely dark red walls.  Pictures and paintings and the odd 'oddity' carefully positioned around, making, if a somewhat simulated, pleasant and pleasing environment.  Upstairs is a smaller bar, the main being downstairs, venture down to find nooks and crannies where couples on quite days enjoy each other company.  I just wonder with the lack of passing trade if this pub can remain open, they try hard with boards out on the main streets sing their praises, but get along and enjoy before it's gone.
