Tucked away at the top of New Street, just yards from Liverpool Street station on the Bishopsgate side you will find The Magpie. Nicholson's has fifty or so traditional pubs in and around central London and a few in the City. This is a good example of what you would expect to find from a name which has been in the pub business since 1873. The service provided is amoungst the very best in the City, swift, pleasant and very accomidating even when very busy and it goes get very busy. The food is the Nicholson's range.

The surroundings are traditional pub, wooden floor, dark walls, there are some stools near to the window and tasteful lighting. The clientele are predominantly middle aged, middle management male City workers.

Being Cask Marque accredited the beer is excellent, Fullers London Pride, Timothy Taylor's Landlord and guest ales, I was lucky enough to visit when Tribute from the St. Austell Brewery was 'guesting', perfect. The Magpie is also holds a Gold award from Beautiful Beer.

If you are looking to relax and enjoy a slow pint in this award winning pub then best visit early in the week, things get very busy in the later part and you will be lucky to find a space to put you beer down.
