The Elephant is a time
warp Youngs boozer, set in a modern building with a
heritage location and name which dates back to 1666.
Split over two floors, a street level bar and basement bar, both are small
and have a distinct 1970's feel (nothing wrong with that),
I visited on a Wednesday and things were quiet at just after
midday, becoming busier at one o'clock. Most were local city workers of
various types, this is not a pretentious pub and everyone was friendly.
The Youngs on offer included Winter Warmer which I settled for, although
Youngs Special tempted me for the second pint and both were good quality
pints.
I also had a toasted ciabattas £4.50, it was tasty, but value for
money,
I'm not to sure.
